A Note from Christina Lawson on the Paradise Fire

As we all know, the families in Northern California are going through some major losses due to the recent fires. It has been reported that these fires are the most destructive in California history. The entire city has burnt down and over 28,000 in population have lost everything.

We are going to be working with “Knuckle Up Clothing” business owners in gathering donations and having them delivered to Paradise, CA. throughout the holidays. They have several drop off areas that will be transporting all the donations via several donated U-Haul & Commercial trucks from local companies.

We are asking anyone that would like to help us help others to please bring any donations (blankets, clothes, tents, pillows, scars & beanie’s, food, shoes, jackets, toiletries, face mask, etc.) to our main kitchen. I will be working directly with Linda & Rendino with Knuckle Up Clothing to have the items dropped off at our designated location, Auto Glass EMT, 4625 W. Jennifer #118, Fresno, CA. This Saturday will be the first delivery to Paradise, CA. Below is a link to read on the additional local business(s) that are taking donations for the victims of the fires. For any cash donations, I will be working with The Red Cross direct.

Thank you in advance for any and all donations. Together, we can make a difference.

After Hours Claims

A message from John Manning:

Coincidently, two clients had large loss commercial property fires last Friday evening & weekend. It is imperative to get these reported to the Insurance Co. ASAP. It is Not recommended to wait until Monday morning to submit the Claims Form.

  • I would think our Producers understand the urgency to report these claims themselves by calling the Insurance Co. 1-800 #.

In the past, I have discussed the Importance and Value of the 1-800 number services the client will receive from the Insurance Co. after hours.

They dispatch an adjuster, contact mitigation companies and provide immediate assistance to the client.

In many insistences ambulance chasing Contractors and or Public Adjusters monitor the Fire Department scanners and drive to these locations soliciting business. These business people are very savvy and stretch the truth about their involvement. They usually take advantage of our Clients who are under distress.

Attached again are the 1-800 # Insurance Company Call List and the Emergency Contractor Vendor List by Region to assist our Producers/Clients until the adjuster responds.

Then our Claims department will follow up with the Insured Monday morning to make sure everything is going according to plan.

If anyone has any questions, please contact me (John Manning).

IIABCal: Legislative Update on Fire Insurance Legislation Proposed In 2018

There is the potential to be as many as 30 fire insurance related legislative measures introduced by the February 16, 2018 bill introduction deadline for the year, the majority of which to be potentially sponsored by California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones.

These are currently proposals, with the exception of those in Section I which have been formally introduced. The following is intended to provide a primer on potential legislative action in this issue area.
