Here’s some info we’re passing along from Richard Antenucci & Nora Voice.
“I’m Singing in the Rain” is an old favorite musical lullaby. However, after getting soaking wet while dancing in the street can bring on the flu.
Commercial:
Please remember, The majority of Commercial Property Policies require “physical damage” to the building (i.e. roof) caused by a covered cause of loss allowing an opening for coverage to apply for interior rain damage. In other words, wind blows off the shingles to allow an opening for the rain to leak inside or a tree limb falls on the roof to cause an opening. Without the roof damage, rain leaks to the building interior is excluded.
If the roof just leaks from lack of maintenance or leaves clogged the roof drain, there is NO coverage. So please be prepared to warn your clients that the adjuster will due their due diligence by inspecting the roof.
Home:
The majority of the home policies take the opposite approach and afford coverage regardless for a sudden roof leak. They do not require storm damage to cause an opening. The Underwriters had more empathy that day, however please be cautious to imply coverage.
Warning:
Also be very cautious to recommend restoration companies to your clients without written back up that coverage is not authorized by D & D and must be approved by the Insurance Company.

“Season’s Greetings from all of us on the D & D Project Committee.
It has been a very busy year for us and now we find ourselves preparing for the Christmas Holiday. Once again we will be supporting the Children in the Pinedale Community with “Wants and Wishes”. Our tree is up and each child has a tag with their name, age, size and likes hung on the tree. We have 60 names to choose from. Zenith Insurance is also doing the same. Many people ask what to get, the need is always clothes. The Parents fill out the Wish List and Clothes & Shoes are the need. The want is a toy, cologne or make-up that is listed. The ages range from newborn to 17 as we don’t just get for the Pinedale student, but for the other children in their household as well.
**Clovis office let me know of the Age range and Gender and I can pull one for you**
Please see Darlene Ayala, Michelle Katoch, Katie Beyerle, Lori Tigson or Richard Antenucci if you have any questions or would like more information on joining the Committee.
Thanks all!
Last night, Mike and Matt DeFendis attended The Business Journal’s Best of Central Valley Business Awards. We’re so honored to have been awarded “Best Property/Casualty Insurance Company” for the 6th year in a row.
Thank you for everyone’s support and we’re very humbled to receive this award!
Good morning everyone. Mike and I are extremely thankful for everything you do for D&D and we want to wish you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving holiday.
If you are traveling this week, please be careful, as the weather is difficult throughout California.
We will be closing down our offices today for the Thanksgiving Holiday at 3pm and will be reopening on Monday Dec. 2. Thank you.
Enjoy your time off and see you in December!
It is that time of year again. The D&D Project will be doing their annual Holiday Boutique in the main kitchen. With the holidays approaching and as you are bringing in your decorations, if you have anything that is new or gently used please donate for the Boutique.
The proceeds will benefit the Washington Union High School. Last year we were able to do 20 ($25) Gift cards from Target to the school.
As you are bringing out your Holiday items, if you have anything you may not use, please donate. We also always look forward for the delicious treats that are donated as well.
Thanks so much and feel free to contact any of the D&D members listed in the flyer above for questions!
