The D&D Project: Christmas Donations

Season’s Greetings from all of us on the D & D Project Committee.  It has been a very busy year for us and now we find ourselves preparing for the Christmas Holidays.  Once again we will be supporting the Children in the Pinedale Community with “Wants and Wishes”.  Our tree is up and each child has a tag with their name, age, size and like hung on the tree. We have 45 names to choose from. Zenith Insurance is also doing the same with the same amount as well.

A green basket and a pen are next to the tree. Please take the ornament and tear off the tag and add the child’s name and add your name as the D & D giver  and place in the Green Basket.  You have until Monday, December 17th at Noon to return your wrapped gifts. We will also be donating 20, $25 gift cards to Washington Union High School to disburse to their students chosen by the facility.

Cash donations are always accepted and you can give your donation to any D & D Project member. Please make checks payable to The D&D Project.

We will have our traditional Christmas 50/50 raffle and gift raffle right before our Christmas Luncheon on Thursday, December 13th. Further information will be sent out regarding this event in the near future.

We thank you for supporting the D & D Project.  Each year with your support we are able to reach out and help more children.  You are the light in the window for many of these families.  You help to make a big difference in their lives!!

Please see Darlene Ayala, Michelle Katoch, Katie Beyerle, Lori Tigson, Patty Reilly, or Richard Antenucci if you have any questions or would like more information on the Committee.

A Note from Christina Lawson on the Paradise Fire

As we all know, the families in Northern California are going through some major losses due to the recent fires. It has been reported that these fires are the most destructive in California history. The entire city has burnt down and over 28,000 in population have lost everything.

We are going to be working with “Knuckle Up Clothing” business owners in gathering donations and having them delivered to Paradise, CA. throughout the holidays. They have several drop off areas that will be transporting all the donations via several donated U-Haul & Commercial trucks from local companies.

We are asking anyone that would like to help us help others to please bring any donations (blankets, clothes, tents, pillows, scars & beanie’s, food, shoes, jackets, toiletries, face mask, etc.) to our main kitchen. I will be working directly with Linda & Rendino with Knuckle Up Clothing to have the items dropped off at our designated location, Auto Glass EMT, 4625 W. Jennifer #118, Fresno, CA. This Saturday will be the first delivery to Paradise, CA. Below is a link to read on the additional local business(s) that are taking donations for the victims of the fires. For any cash donations, I will be working with The Red Cross direct.

Thank you in advance for any and all donations. Together, we can make a difference.

In Need of a Home in the Chico Area

Ginger Cope lives in Paradise and works for our company remotely.  Ginger lost her home in the fire last week and is looking for a home or condo to rent in the Chico area.  If anyone has a residence they are interested in renting please reach out to Nora Voice at [email protected] or 559.432.0935.

Richard Lara Elected To Head State Insurance Department

Democratic State Senator Ricardo Lara of Los Angeles will be the next Insurance Commissioner of California, according to final returns reported by the Secretary of State.  With 100% of all precincts reporting, Sen. Lara had 50.8 percent (3,393,189) of the vote; former Commissioner Steve Poizner, running as an independent, had 49.2 percent (3,287,452).

“As California’s Insurance Commissioner, I’ll work tirelessly to represent the great people of California, not the corporations, the billionaire class, the pharmaceutical or the insurance companies,” the Commissioner-elect pledged on his campaign website (www.ricardolara.com).  “I plan to work with anybody who is willing to come to the table, but my allegiance will always be first and foremost to the consumers, the patients, our working families, and our most vulnerable communities in our Golden State.”
